Astrology From A Personal Perspective by Regina Schwartz

In my experience I find astrology to be a cross between an art and science that originated in ancient civilizations from which precise mathematical correlations were developed to measure the movements of celestial bodies in the sky and the movements of us folks on earth. In another sense it can be viewed as a form of divination that uses the luminaries plus the planets in a chart that we know as the Zodiac. The luminaries or Sun and Moon and the planets are plotted out on the chart based on the date and time of our births.

An Astrology chart in Western astrology, which is most familiar to Americans, is based on a 360-degree circle with twelve 30-degree equal portions called the Zodiac Houses. Each portion of the Zodiac, which is ruled by one of the luminaries or planets and Zodiac Signs represents a various aspect of one's life and personality. Based on one's date of birth, one's Sun sign is determined. The Sun sign is found by correlating the date of one's birth to the correlating sign that rules that particular date. The Sun sign is a very general over view of an astrological chart/reading. One can find their sun sign in any newspaper, magazine or on line. In order to get a more in depth astrological reading you must also know the time of your birth.

Once you know the time of your birth you can then find your rising or ascending sign and your moon sign. Next to one's sun sign the rising and moon signs are the most important. Your sun sign represents how you show yourself to the world, your moon sign is about your inner feelings and your rising or ascending sign is how the world perceives your and your self-image.

In conclusion I would say to get an accurate astrology reading you need to know both the date and time of your birth. Depending on the time of your birth can determine where the other planets fall in the 12 Zodiac houses in your chart. This is what gives the chart aspects or further incites into your life and personality. Some aspects are strong and some are week depending on what the planet is and in what house it lays. In addition, each sign has one of 4 elements, Fire, Earth, Air or Water that each sign is also associated with. The elements give us our personality traits. With these things in mind it can be said that in order to get a good astrology reading all these components have to be included in a chart to get a complete picture of a person and their life.
