Tarot Cards - How to Take Care of Your Deck and Get the Best Readings

by Priti Ahuja

As a Tarot Reader it is of utmost importance that you take care of your Tarot Deck and cards before, after and during the reading. Here are some handy tips that you can use to get the best out of your Tarot Cards:

Wrap the cards in silk. The cloth should be clean and new and not used for any other purpose earlier. Color matters. Most prefer golden yellow or purple. Some even use red or black and other colors.

Sleep with the cards under or near your pillow in the night. Some even do this. Generally it is said that if you do this with a new deck for a period of some ten odd days or something, they tend to understand your energies.

Keep the cards in a good wooden box. Alternatively cardboard box can be used as well. You may even line the the interiors of the box with silk or provide a silk cushion as well for the cards in the box.

For the readings, spread the cards on silk. Color matters. Try not using the cloth for any other purpose.

Never leave the cards un-attended.

It is preferable that no one except you touches the deck.

Energize them often. You may use Reiki. Or salt. Or candles. Or herbs. Or white light or just about any other way to energize and charge them. Personally speaking I run them over incense smoke - for each card one by one - works wonders. During the entire process I chant mantras or sacred hymns.

It is generally preferable that you do no allow long periods of non usage. Even if you are not doing the readings, remove the cards - shuffle them often, energize and charge the. General shuffling every now and them also works wonders.

Please add
your comments.

Treat them in a sacred manner. You may treat them royally as well.

Be calm and composed during the readings or whenever you are with your cards.

Keep them away from clutter.

You may even call upon the Archangels for protection and guidance with the readings. Thank them after the session.

You 'may' follow these. Its not necessary that you 'should' follow these. Each reader has their own set of rituals along with their whims and fancies. As long as a person is comfortable and attuned to their inner self and has faith in the power above, its just fine. One may believe in a certain process while the other may believe in something else.

Respect and love your cards and they will reciprocate wonderfully.
