The Fool
The Fool, generally found at the beginning of the Tarot Deck, is one of three cards that are uniquely numbered. Most often this card is numbered 0 (zero). Functioning much like the Joker in a regular playing deck, The Fool functions outside the confines of the other Major Arcana cards and has special status. This special status is sometimes designated by placing The Fool as number 22, the last card of the Major Arcana.
The Fool, typically represent the Querent (The person who is receiving the card reading). He is the embodiment of the whimsical, "inner child," who deep inside is really a Sage. The Fool faces life and his journey unafraid. He is trusting and has faith. Regardless of life's pitfalls, The Fool believes that he will be kept safe and secure along his path. The Fool is likely to have no idea where he is headed or what he will do, but it really doesn't matter. The most important thing to The Fool is to just go out and enjoy whatever the world has to offer. To see what is there. To experience each and every thing to the fullest.
As a card, The Fool represents a new start. When The Fool appears in a reading, the Querent might be about to move to a new house, a new country, a new relationship. This card represents more than just changes in life. It represents renewal and brand new beginnings. It also represents movement and a wonderful exciting time in the Quetrent's life. There's more contained in the meaning of this card than just change, renewal, and a brand new beginning in the Fool, it also shows movement (such as accomplishing a goal) or, a fresh, exciting new time.
