Inspired By The One Who Owns Cattle Over A Thousand Hills by Elizabeth Kimani

Inspired by the one who ownscattle over a thousand hillsWhen I read the word of God and I look at thepeople He chose to do His work, I am amazed.Look at Noah, when God told him to build the ark, theman was 600 years old (in the current generation, thisis not possible especially when you consider thatanyone above 100 years is extremely old). He was theonly one found righteous in the sight of God when Godwanted to finish the world because of its sin. Abraham,Moses, Joshua, Joseph, Samson, David, Samuel,Elijah, Elisha, Daniel, Job, Esther, Ruth, Sarah, Hannah,Rahab, Mary and many more of these great menand women.

None of them had anything to offer the world and theyhave their names living until today because God sawthat they had thepotential to doHis great andmighty work.Even they did notconsider themselvesworthyand capable ofsuch great jobs.

They just didwhat they didaverage. Butwhen they got therevelation of God,they stoppedbeing averageand common;and what theythen accomplished, wasmore than anyonecould imagine.

For each personwho made agreat accomplishmentin the bible, they had a personal meeting with God where a divinerevelation was made. None of them just woke up oneday and decided to do the great deed. There was adivine assignment. For many of us today, we think thatdivine assignments ended with the biblical times documentedin the bible. But they did not. They are still asalive as we are.

I keep asking one question every time I find myselfwondering if I will make it to be a successful personwho does the will of God and one who has a purposeand destiny. The question is - if I worship and havefaith unshaken in the same God who made the watersof the Red Sea part ways for the Israelites to crossover while escaping the Egyptians, what makes methink that that same God cannot bring to pass thatwhich I am trusting Him for? It is good to know thebible stories and the miracles that took place becausethen it reminds one that we are not dealing with"powers that be".

We are dealing with the AlmightyGod, Creator of Heaven and Earth and Giver of Life.In our path to success over what He has revealed tous and in what we are pursuing, be it employment in agovernment office, self-employment or philanthropicworks, we need to remember that we need to riseabove mediocrity and perform at higher levels of excellenceand perfection. Even in our businesses, what isso special that removes you away from the rest of thepack? It is time we stopped doing business likeeverybody else.

Point of illustration - if you keep going to sampleservices in different restaurants and you find that out offive that are in the same lane or block they are alloffering the same standard of service, will you botherto go back? Won't you start diversifying out of that laneto see if those further afield have something differentand better to offer? And that is where most of us loseour very dear customers. We get too familiar with themand stop treating them as special, hoping they willunderstand that that's just the way things are. As onepreacher said, mediocrity creeps in when we believethat we have it all.

Excellence in your business and life should not be anachievement; it should be your character. A referencepoint by which people can refer to or describe you.And how do you achieve that level of perfection andPrime status?

1. Commit all to God. Prime to everything else isthe understanding that nothing is possible withoutGod. Failure to include God in all your plansand committing them to God is a recipe forextremely slow movement to your success, if notfailure to get there. God gives us the talents, gifts, and resources; by His grace, doors thatwould previously be closed to you are opened.By committing our plans to Him, His favor precedesus and we are able to achieve more thanwe even imagined.

2. Work hard and smart. Ever watched a windvane, It is important as it gives us the direction ofthe wind and that iswhy it is placed sohigh up with nobarriers. Unfortunatelyit just goesround the samepole, never getsanywhere but it isseen to be working. Now a lot of us areexactly the same.We are working sohard and not gettinganywherebecause we havegot no particulardirection we aregoing to. Workingsmart allows Godthe opportunity toanswer the prayerswe make concerningour successand it allows us toutilize the gifts andtalents that Godput in each one ofHis human creation.

3. Stop being afraid. I once heard someone saythat fear aborts God's blessings for us and italso keeps us away from God's blessings. If SirRichard Branson (Virgin Group of companies)had been afraid to risk his life while crossing theAtlantic airborne, that bit of history would probablystill be unwritten. Get out of your comfortzone and just worth noting is that those whodared to be blessed by God dared to risk everythingthey had and the rewards were beyond theirimagination.

4. Don't be a cry baby. Just because things don'twork out, don't grumble or beat yourself upabout it to the extent that you think that you can'ttry again. Learn from your mistakes and keepmoving. Fall down, get up, dust yourself off andwalk again. Develop a spirit like that of an alleycat. It goes out there fights for its rightful place, itis scratched, hurt and bloodied. It then retreatsto its corner and nurses its wounds and beforelong, it is back there again. At some point therest of the cats just don't see the point of fightinganymore with one who doesn't give up. Refuseto get frustrated.

5. Love and appreciate yourself. Personally Ihave accepted, I am not a party animal! Anygathering beyond 10.00 p.m. can sure be betterwithout me because my eyes get a life of theirown, they start acting droopy and the safestplace to be is my bed. That I have accepted.Anything to the contrary is punishing myself andinconveniencing any company I may be in at thathour.

About the Author
Accepting what you are not is not a weakness, it is a strength because it is in this acceptance that one realizes what they are good at and they can develop it rather than fighting a losing battle with what they are not.
